Basketball Preview

It looks like the 2009 – 2010 Dragon Boys’ Basketball team may have yet another successful season.  With the addition of a new Coach (Mark LeFever), and some key returning players, there is an overall positive outlook for the coming season.

Last season, the Dragons finished 17-3, advancing to the Section 2 finals.  With hard work and solid coaching, this year’s team is capable of repeating last year’s success.

The Dragons will miss Coach Landrio, Matt Baldwin (1,000 point scorer), Gabe Wells (power in the post), and Jeremy VanAlstyne (6th man).  However, a new addition to the Dragons will be Coach LeFever.  He has been in the program for years, coaching the J.V. squad and aiding Coach Landrio on the varsity sidelines.  Everyone knows Coach LeFever so it should not be a tough adjustment.  I was lucky enough to sit down and discuss with him his thoughts on this upcoming team.  Coach LeFever said he was looking forward to the opportunity to bring some new ideas that will help our team achieve success.

Practice begins for the Dragons on November 9th and their first league game is December 10th against Glens Falls.  This season will require those players that are returning to step up their games and perform at a higher level.
