Senior, Bri Smead,
shared this dream:
“I was in a large college lecture hall and a man grabbed hold
of me and would not let go. He was aggressive and violent. Since he
grabbed me from behind, I couldn’t fight and break free. Some of my
friends and family members were there, and as I was screaming at the top of my
lungs and struggling in intense pain, they just stood there and watched.
They were expressionless, made no attempt to liberate me, and kept walking by
with the crowd as if nothing wrong was going on.”
This dream exhibits the fear and anxiety that occurs when students leave high school and go to college. The violent man could symbolize the struggles that you fear will take place when you enter college. Your friends and family make no effort to help you because they won’t always be there in college. Try to relax a little and focus on the new experiences that you will have in college instead of dwelling on the scary things.
Lindsey Howard, a freshman, said:
“Last week I had a dream that I was at a ball. I
don’t know why. I was wearing jeans to a ball. How ridiculous! All
of the sudden, all attention, and a spotlight, was on me. I started
singing songs from A Very Potter Musical. I was chased out of the
ballroom by werewolves and vampires. Then I ran into a tree and woke
up.”
Your unfit clothing for the ball in your dream could symbolize a
fear of being found unprepared. You may feel like a spotlight is on you a
lot, and the all attention can be scary (like werewolves and vampires!).
This dream should teach you to be prepared, to get out of the “spotlight” a
little, and to beware werewolves and vampires!
Another freshman, Lauren Smouse, told me this crazy dream:
“I was a character in the game Candy Land, and I was being attacked by the
Licorice
WOW. That was one crazy dream. The licorice man could
represent someone controlling or restrictive in your life. He or she is
making you do things that you don’t want to do (i.e. ruling the gingerbread
palace, and eating licorice). Let someone take you away from this control
(Johnny Depp, I hope), and hopefully Invader Zim won’t vaporize them.
Global teacher, Mrs. Martin, told me this dream:
“My usual back to school dream occurs every August or
September. I am working backstage at a play and moments before the curtain is
to go up, I am told that I have to star in the show. I have no time to
learn my lines or prepare in any way, but I am forced to go onstage
anyway. I am wracked with nerves. I always wake up before the curtain
opens. This dream just reminds me that school is approaching and it’s time to
get ready!”
Mrs. Martin, your dream is an analogy for going back to
school. The play is a metaphor for school. You are afraid of being
unprepared for school, just as, in your dream, you are unprepared to star in
the play. Don’t worry though; I’m sure you are always prepared for each
new school year!
An anonymous Junior wanted me to analyze this dream:
“I had this dream that I was trapped in this hole and it
was filled with something weird, almost like goat cheese. Anyways, I tried to
climb up the side but my hands were all slippery, due to the cheese. Then a
clown helped me out and took me to the circus. Next, I was on the trapeze but
slipped back into a hole, this time with goat milk.
What does this mean?”
Sometimes we all feel like we are stuck in a hole, but remember,
there’s nowhere to go but up! As for the rest of the dream, I think that my
best advice would be to stay away from goats and clowns. =]
Linnea Olsen, a junior, shared this dream:
“I was going on a 4-H camping trip and I had to get up at
Dreams like this can be confusing, and maybe a little scary.
Maybe you are having troubles with your neighbor about something. (or maybe
you’ve just been watching too many TV crime dramas)
If you have a dream that you would like DreamCatcher
to interpret, write it down and bring it to Mrs. Poulin’s room, 913. Thank you,
and sweet dreams!
