The Gloversville Huskies
have started off to a great season with senior leadership and a dedicated work
ethic. Ever since players can remember, they’ve been hitting it hard in the
weight room in the off season and getting work done on the practice field since
August.
The first week against
In the next week, the Huskies faced off against the Bishop
Maginn Griffins. Last season, the inexperienced Huskies lost twice to the
Griffins once in regular season and once in the sectional playoffs. However,
the Huskies prevailed once again in a crushing win over the Griffins, 51-6. The
defense once again flew to the ball and contained the star running back for the
Griffins for fewer than 75 yards rushing. The offense did its part staying
strong the whole game; even the second offense got some points on the board.
Called the “game of the week” by Syracuse.com, the 3rd best team in the state Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans hosted the 17th best team in the state Gloversville Huskies. Unfortunately, the Spartans won 46-6 over the Huskies. The Huskies put up an honorable effort, but it was no match for the dominating force of the Spartans. Hopefully, the Huskies will see them again this season; they’re ready for another try.
Week after week, your Huskies have been playing hard on the field. Recently, we secured the home team advantage during the Sectional playoff game. While the regular season is over, we plan on extending our playing time in sectionals.
The community couldn’t be
any more supportive behind the team this year, with huge turnouts at home games
and amazing equipment supplied by the Huskies’ Alumni Club. The efforts of
these people often go unnoticed but are huge reasons why the team is so strong
and close this year. Let’s go Huskies!
