Life as a Huskie
by Garin Malagisi, '11

Football is supposed to be a fun sport for all ages. However, sometimes football isn’t all that fun for a Gloversville Huskie. Being a Gloversville Huskie takes a ton of time and effort. Practices are very, very long, and during inconvenient times. Weight room and other mandatory events take up time also. Not only are the practices long, they can be very tiring as well.

Throughout the week, Huskie practices are full contact all the way up until Thursday night, the day before the game. All of the contact, along with a good amount of running, really gets to your body and wears you down, though no one complains about it.

Despite the time and effort it takes to be a Gloversville Huskie, the results, especially this year, are very rewarding. The whole team gets very nice warm up suits, a bag, free dinner every Thursday night, and the safest equipment on the market today. Coach Ciaccio, along with our many other coaches, teaches more than just football. Being on this football team, you learn life lessons such as never giving up and always doing your best in everything no matter what. The coaches try to instill values into every single player.

Another result of the time and effort is, more importantly, winning. When you walk out on a Friday night under the lights and get a win in front of a huge Gloversville crowd, there is nothing like it. The feeling is something that no one on the team will forget for the rest of their lives.

We, the Gloversville Huskies, as a whole look better than we ever have. There will be a lot of winning in this team’s future. We could go far, considering all of the hard work put in by this team.
