It's a new school year! With every new year comes new courses, new teachers and of course a whole list of things that will get you stressed out. Although it may feel like high school will never end, here are some tips to survive the 2009 - 2010 school year at GHS.
Freshmen: Welcome to GHS! As you will soon learn (if you haven't already) high school is a lot better than middle school. It's tough adjusting to a new, hard classes and a bunch of new teachers, but you'll survive; we all did. Just say cool and focused and you will make the most of your freshmen year.
Sophomores: Well, the good news is you're no longer a freshmen. But now is the time to pick up the slack and start working hard! If you get yourself organized now, you can manage your workload and set the stage for the rest of your high school career. And, don't go picking on the freshmen -- you were in their shoes last year. So, if you see a lost freshmen in need of help, lend a hand. No one will make fun of you for doing a good deed.
Juniors: It's a big year -- SATs and Prom! But don't get ahead of yourself. You have a long way to go. For some of us, it means a first taste of college with AP classes. Work hard from now until May, then take a deep breath! This is also a great time to start looking at colleges. You don't have to map out your future yet, but now is crucial time to start getting serious about it!
Seniors: Congratulations! You're done in June! Of course, we all know for you this year means so many great memories of the past and hopes for the future. Because this year will go by like a flash -- enjoy every moment of it. But while you are having fun, don't blow off your grades. Colleges look closely at academics in your senior year. Hang in there, and keep working hard. In a few months, you'll be starting the next chapter of your lives.
