Once there was a young girl named Ashley. Her mother and her grandmother didn't get along. Ashley's mother and grandmother were witches, and so was Ashley, but of course she didn't know it. Ashley's grandmother's name is Clarise and her mother's name was Helen. The only time her grandmother came to her house was Halloween night. She was an only child and loved it when her grandmother came to visit.
This was Ashley's 17th Halloween and it was also her birthday. By her 18th birthday, Ashley had to get her broom license; if she didn't she would be mortal for the rest of her life. But of course, Ashley didn't know this.
It was Halloween night and Clarise is at Ashley's house. She always brought a bag full of candy for Ashley.
"At this dinner, we are going to be different," said Clarise to Ashley. "Ashley, I found this book at the library with Halloween spells in it. It's your birthday present."
Helen said, "I thought you were going to get her a necklace?"
"Necklaces are boring," said Clarise. "Books are cool."
Before the discussion got out of control, Ashley jumped in and yelled, "Stop fighting! You do this every time grandma visits. Thank you for my birthday present, grandmother."
Well, now Clarise felt it was a good idea to tell Ashley she was a witch. But before she could, Helen blurted out, "Mother, I know what you are thinking of doing...don't do it! You will never be allowed in this house again."
But Clairse didn't care. She didn't want Ashley to be mortal. She yelled back, "I don't care. If you don't teach her, I will!"
Ashley was confused. "Teach me or tell me what?"
Clairse exclaimed, "You're a witch! I am a witch and your mother is a witch. We all have magical powers and if you don't your broom license before your 18th birthday, you will be mortal forever!"
Ashley blurted out, "WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
